Hendersonville knocked off Region 4-6A opponent Station Camp 49-0 in their first Region contest of the 2020 season. The COMMANDOS would force a 3 & out on the opening possession of the game before scoring on their first possession. The scoring drive would only take two plays as #10 Ellis Ellis picked a COMMANDO first down before #8 Brent Rowe scored his first of three touchdowns of the night with a 19 yard run. On the ensuing drive, Rowe would force a fumble that #35 Stevie Mack would recover. Rowe would capitalize off the turnover with a 3 yard TD run and after #27 Andrew Martin’s PAT, HHS would have an early 14-0 lead. The Bison would get a drive going as they marched down the field before the drive ended with a 4th down stop by the Black & Gold defense. The teams would then trade a couple of punts as the game moved into the 2nd quarter. #11 Luke Manning would add the next points with a 17 yard run. On the ensuing possession by the Bison, Ellis would have an interception giving HHS the ball just 11 yards from the endzone. Ellis would then score his first of two TD’s with an 11 yard run on the 1st play of the drive. The half would see no more scores but big plays on defense would be made by #61 Donnell Brown (tackle for loss) and #9 Josh Ferguson (interception). Station Camp would recover an onside kick to begin the 2nd half but Ellis would get the ball back to HHS with an interception. HHS would return the ball with a fumble but the defense would force a turnover on downs. Rowe would score with another run and then add a 2 point conversion to put the COMMANDOS up 35-0. Ellis would score again in the 3rd quarter with a 5 yard run before #26 Stevin Mack ended the scoring with a 12 yard run to put HHS up 49-0. The COMMANDOS improve to 2-1 on the season and will travel to cross-town rival Beech (2-1) next week for a non-Region contest.
