HENDERSONVILLE WINS 3RD STRAIGHT

The COMMANDOS won their 3rd straight game by defeating Rossview 42-21 after a weather delay. Rossview would get the ball to start the game and after gaining one first down they would punt. HHS would get a 1st down run by #8 Brent Rowe and then return the punt. #58 John Rucks would get a tackle for loss to force a Hawk punt after one 1st down. HHS would again return the punt after one 1st down as #11 Luke Manning would pass to #3 Keion Stafford. #61 Donnell Brown would have a tackle for loss as the Black & Gold defense would force a 3 and out. Stafford would block the RHS punt, scoop it up and return it 32 yards to the endzone for the first score of the night putting the COMMANDOS up 7-0. HHS would force another 3 & out, but throw an interception on the 1st play of the 2nd quarter. would capitalize off the turnover with a big run on 3rd down followed up with a 25 yard TD pass to tie the game at 7. The teams would then trade punts before HHS would get a drive going. Manning would find Stafford for a 1st down and then the duo would connect again for a 1st before Rowe would score on a 4 yard run to put the COMMANDOS back on top 14-7. Hendersonville would force another Hawk punt and then drive the ball with runs by #10 Ellis Ellis and #25 Torin Baker. A 27 yard field goal would be blocked on the last play of the 1st half as the teams went to the locker room with HHS up 14-7.

#7 David Johnson would have a big kickoff return to start he 2nd half and then Ellis and Rowe would have 1st down runs. Manning would find Dalton on a pass to set up 1st & goal. Rowe would cap off the opening drive of the 2nd half with a 1 yard TD run as HHS extended their lead to 21-7. Rossview would gain a 1st down on the ground before Rowe picked off a RHS pass. Baker and #13 Jack Brown would have big runs on the COMMANDOS next possession and then Manning would score with a 12 yard TD run as HHS went up 28-7. A sack by #68 Aaron Heath and #80 Devyn Hendley would highlight the next series as HHS forced a 3 & out, but would return the ball to RHS after 3 plays. A sack by #53 Jaden Thorton would force another 3 & out. The Hawks would attempt to fake the punt, but HHS would be ready and get the ball back. After an incompletion, Hendersonville would hand the ball to Rowe 2 times, the 2nd rush would be a 16 yard touchdown run putting HHS up 35-7 early in the 4thquarter. Rossview would return the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. Hendersonville would be forced to punt on their next series. After a 1st down run, #32 Noah Carmean would force a fumble that Hendley would recover. Jack Brown would have big runs following the turnover with the last one being a 1 yard TD run as HHS went up 42-14. The Hawks would again return the kickoff to the endzone, this one for an 85 yard TD return to make the score 42-21. The COMMANDOS would be able to run out the clock on their next possession claiming a 42-21 victory and ensuring a 1st round home playoff game.

With the win, the COMMANDOS set up Region 4-6A Championship game next Friday night against the Mt. Juliet Golden Bears. The winner of the game next week at Mt. Juliet will lock up home field advantage throughout the playoffs as well as being named the Region 4-6A Champions. Kickoff at Mt. Juliet next Friday night is set for 7:00.
